In the trendy neighbourhood of Pera, the Adahan Istanbul is an anchor of tranquility in the midst of the lively metropolis on the Bosphorus. The 19th century building originally owned by the Camondo family was opened as a boutique hotel in April 2012 after many years of careful restoration. In order to preserve the originality of the house, the marble and cotto floors, frescos and columns were meticulously refurbished. In the Adahan, these architectural details merge with ecological and modern influences through original artworks, natural materials and wood furniture, to create comfortable and unique accommodations. The 49 rooms and suites are contemporary and feature a timeless, purist interior. After dinner in the hotel restaurant, let the evening calmly fade away by taking in the breathtaking view of the Golden Horn and Hagia Sophia from the Cachi rooftop bar or by giving yourself over to Istanbul’s exciting nightlife.
The purist design is continued in the 132 sqm Grand Suite which, in addition to two bedrooms with king- and queen-sized beds, consists of a large living- and dining-room. Custom-made solid wood furniture and natural-fibre fabrics create a clear but cosy atmosphere.
There is certainly no shortage of historic attractions in the city on the Bosporus: the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi Palace of the Ottoman sultans to name just a few. But contemporary Istanbul also has plenty to offer. The best example is Independence Street, which runs from Taksim Square to Tünel Square, and which is home to upscale shops and department stores selling prestigious international brands. Nor should you forget to sample the nightlife of Istanbul, which connoisseurs consider to be one of the most exciting in the world. You’ll soon notice that Istanbul has more to offer than just palaces and mosques.
