In summer sun-worshippers flock to enjoy the beaches in and around Rimini, to relax and shop in the many small boutiques. Rimini is a lively town with a number of sights, such as the clock tower in the old town or the Tiberius Bridge that is almost 2,000 years old. The Gothic cathedral was remodelled with a Renaissance facade by the leading architect Leon Battista Alberti and inside also boasts a crucifix by Giotto. A number of famous people were born in Rimini, of whom the best-known is perhaps the film-maker and director Federico Fellini, who gained an international reputation with films such as La dolce vita and La strada.
