You wouldn\u2019t think at first glance that Josef Schwaiger, also known as Sepp, runs three hotels and a concept store, but he does, and he does it with immense passion, even more creativity and huge success.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, the qualified architect remains as down-to-earth as the rest of <strong>the extended Eder\/Schwaiger family<\/strong>, many of whom work for the business. Sepp grew up at the main hotel, the Hotel Eder, which was built by his grandfather <strong>in the 1960s<\/strong> out of a stable in the heart of Maria Alm. So in the 1980s, the kitchen and guest areas were young Sepp\u2019s playground, meaning hospitality isn\u2019t just a way of life, it\u2019s also in his DNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sepp: wild at heart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut I wasn\u2019t interested at first,\u201d he explains. \u201c<strong>I wanted to build houses<\/strong>, went to a technical college and then studied <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifestylehotels.net\/en\/stories\/design-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">architecture<\/a> at uni.\u201d His response to the question as to what encouraged him to return home is a smile: \u201cThe odd cocktail party,\u201d which he had with friends during his wild mid-twenties in a bar he opened in what was an empty back room of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hoteleder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hotel Eder<\/a><\/strong> at the time. It wasn\u2019t just a success, it also provided him with so much joy that Sepp decided to <strong>follow in the footsteps of his predecessors<\/strong>. That worked really well,\u201d says the cosmopolitan Salzburger. The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/edersepp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hotel Sepp<\/a><\/strong> followed, aimed at young adventurers \u2013 complete with a <strong>rooftop sauna in a converted camper van<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/LUMI2777_hotel_sepp_fassade_rz-1024x764.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"71667\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/LUMI2777_hotel_sepp_fassade_rz-scaled.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/?attachment_id=71667\" class=\"wp-image-71667\"\/><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/K44A0767_hotel_sepp_rooftop_rz-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"71655\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/K44A0767_hotel_sepp_rooftop_rz-1-scaled.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.thestylemate.com\/?attachment_id=71655\" class=\"wp-image-71655\"\/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>His brother Tom meanwhile gave free rein to his own creative streak at the <strong>Tom Almh\u00fctte<\/strong> at 1,166 metres above sea level, and immediately made Choupette the pug its universally adored mascot. The Schwaigers replaced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifestylehotels.net\/en\/stories\/eat-drink-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">village grocers<\/a> with the cool <strong>Consepp Store<\/strong>, and also made Maria Alm worth a visit for smaller guests when they opened <strong>Tante Frida<\/strong> in December 2021 \u2013 a children\u2019s hotel where a well-travelled aunt tells crazy stories and makes many a childhood dream come true. It\u2019s entirely conceivable that a good number of the game ideas at the newly opened family haven came from Sepp\u2019s four-year-old son \u2013 or at least were extensively tested by him. Because if one thing is important to Sepp, it\u2019s his family.
