Quinta Filippa, near Leiria in Portugal, is more than just a new hideaway. What began in 2017 as a search for a private holiday home has evolved into a distinctive retreat where family roots, contemporary design and Portuguese traditions come together.

Named after owner Mike's eldest daughter, Filippa, the estate also tells a story of returning to one's roots. His mother grew up just a few kilometres away. The historic bread oven, once a gathering place for the local community, is now used daily again by Executive Chef Paolo de Vries.

Rooms & Suites

Set across approximately 40 hectares, the estate is home to 16 individually designed rooms and suites. Interior designer Nanouk Souren van Ramshorst combines historic architectural features with natural stone, reclaimed wood, handcrafted ceramics and carefully selected furnishings. Underfloor heating provides comfort, while the deliberate absence of televisions reflects the peaceful character of the rooms.

Culinary Experiences

In the kitchen, the seasons set the pace. Ingredients from the estate's own garden and local producers form the foundation of dishes created by Executive Chef Paolo de Vries, who brings more than 20 years of international experience. Meals are included in the stay and can be enjoyed around a communal table or in a more private setting. Bread-making sessions, cooking workshops and tastings of Portuguese specialities add to the experience.

Wellness & Experiences

A 25-metre heated saltwater pool, open year-round, alongside a sauna, infrared sauna, steam room and private treatment spaces, invites guests to unwind. Yoga, Reformer Pilates, breathwork sessions, guided hikes and cycling tours complete the offering. Activities are tailored to each guest's interests and individual needs.
