Gradonna Mountain Resort: ART that moves mountains
Alpine luxury and the power of nature merge at breathtaking altitude into a harmonious experience of activity, wellness and art.

When the majestic peaks of the Hohe Tauern are reflected in the windows of Gradonna Mountain Resort, it almost feels like standing in front of a work of art. A work of art created through the interplay of nature and humankind.
It is a subtle hint of what awaits at the Gradonna Mountain Resort at Großglockner: a curated selection of works that bring the magic and power of the mountains indoors. Displayed in a place that naturally completes their effect.
Join us on this page for a small, refined vernissage featuring seven selected works:

Lois Salcher
What emotions are triggered when looking at certain color surfaces – and conversely: which colors are able to express certain emotions?
The artist from Lienz thinks and paints in color spaces where emotion and surface merge.

Helene Maria Schorn
From her parents’ home, she looked out at the Hohe Tauern mountains as a child. It was therefore only natural to artistically engage with the mountains. Through transformed palette knife techniques and atmospheric color choices, her works have a unique radiance.

HELMUT STROBL
With the design of the Maximilian Chapel at Gradonna and the floating fragment of his “World Image of Peace,” Helmut Strobl has created a quiet yet powerful place of remembrance.

Acrylic on canvas, 2003
PETER NIEDERTSCHEIDER
Bathing culture dates back to ancient times – a tradition that is also celebrated at Gradonna. Sculptures made of Swiss stone pine, artfully stacked and styled after classical nudes, welcome guests in the entrance area – a subtle reference to the wellness area.

WOLFGANG BÖHMER
The artist from Innsbruck creates nature images that express existential experiences such as happiness, sorrow or joy. With “Naturalized,” works are created directly in and with nature, inspired by powerful places such as the Gradonna rock – a place of particular calm and strength.

GISELBERT HOKE
Black, brown, white: the colors of this work hanging in the lobby harmonize with the natural tones of Gradonna. It was created by Giselbert Hoke, who became famous in 1956 for the station frescoes in Klagenfurt.

BIRGIT SCHRÖTTNER-THURNER
