Das Agrad Chalets – The Story of Feeling Just Right
3. August 2026
Every journey gives us something different. Sometimes it’s a new city, new flavours or a different culture. Other times, it’s simply the joy of staying in one place and letting the days unfold at their own pace. That’s what makes travelling so special – there is no single way to experience it.
Every journey has its own rhythm
In Chiemgau, the days seem to unfold a little differently. Surrounded by lakes, mountains and charming villages, it quickly becomes clear that this isn’t a place about ticking off sights. It’s about enjoying the time you have and making every moment count.
This is exactly where the Heinrichsberger family created Agrad Chalets. For generations, hospitality has been part of their lives. Creating the chalets wasn’t about opening another place to stay, but about continuing a family tradition. Even the location tells a story: the chalets were built on the site of a former campsite, a place where people had already been coming to unwind and spend time together long before the first chalet was built.
What does “Agrad” actually mean?
In the Bavarian dialect, “Agrad” means “just right.” For the Heinrichsberger family, however, it means much more than that. Werner Heinrichsberger once described it like this:
“Agrad is the moment when everything simply feels right.”
That idea can be found throughout the entire experience. It’s not about one outstanding feature or a long list of amenities. It’s about creating the kind of moments that quietly stay with you long after you’ve returned home.
Not every journey becomes unforgettable because of how much we saw. Sometimes it stays with us because we truly experienced the place we were in.
The region is part of the experience
At Agrad, discovering Chiemgau goes beyond the chalet itself.
Breakfast is delivered directly to your private terrace each morning, while the evenings invite everyone to gather around the table for fondue or raclette. The family also works closely with local restaurants, encouraging guests to experience the flavours and hospitality of the region itself. Some of the best travel memories are created exactly like this. Good food, great conversations and evenings that seem to pass by without anyone noticing the time.
No two journeys feel the same – and that’s the beauty of it
Some travellers spend every day exploring, discovering new places from sunrise to sunset. Others are happiest spending an entire afternoon on the terrace with a good book or simply enjoying the company of the people around them.
That’s exactly why we love discovering new places. No two journeys are ever the same – just like no two travellers are alike. Some are constantly on the move, while others are perfectly happy staying in one place. The beautiful part is that both can become the kind of journey you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
