Vestige Collection – In Pursuit of Beauty
Historic places reimagined: The Vestige Collection connects architecture, nature and mindful hospitality in Spain and Namibia.
Was mit dem Wunsch nach einem privaten Zuhause begann, entwickelte sich zu einer außergewöhnlichen Hospitality-Vision.
The Spanish entrepreneurial family Madera Fernández originally intended to restore a historic palace for their own use. Today, the project has grown into a collection of remarkable houses, boutique hotels and retreats: the Vestige Collection – places that preserve history while opening new perspectives for conscious travel.

When history becomes hospitality
The origin of the Vestige Collection lies in the Palacio de Figueras, a 16th-century palace in Asturias. Situated on a hill overlooking the harbour, it was meant to become the family’s private residence.

The careful restoration took eleven years. During this time, the family developed close collaborations with local craftsmen, artists and architects. At the same time, it became clear that the building offered far more space than a single family could ever use.
From this realization, a new idea emerged – not only to preserve historic buildings but to give them a new purpose. The name Vestige reflects exactly this concept: traces of the past transformed into new places of hospitality.
Son Vell – Menorca’s elegant country estate
On Menorca, Son Vell became one of the first boutique hotels of the Vestige Collection. The 18th-century Palladian manor house lies close to the coast and is surrounded by around 200 hectares of landscape.

During the restoration, local materials were consciously chosen: traditional Marés stone, handcrafted ceramics, linen fabrics and natural pigments. Complemented by new buildings, the estate has been transformed into a boutique hotel with 33 individually designed rooms and suites.
The surrounding landscape was also carefully shaped: two pools, a kitchen garden and more than 1,400 newly planted trees and native plants create a tranquil refuge where nature and design exist in harmony.
Binidufà & Son Ermità – Nature and serenity in northern Menorca
On the unspoiled northern coast of Menorca lie the estates Binidufà and Son Ermità, whose history dates back to the 13th century.

The two boutique hotels share an expansive estate of around 800 hectares. While Son Ermità sits on elevated ground with views across the island’s gentle hills, Binidufà is even more deeply integrated into the raw surrounding landscape.
Here, rustic charm meets architecture designed to connect guests directly with nature – a peaceful hideaway surrounded by green valleys, the red earth of Menorca and grazing cattle.
Miramar – A city palace in Palma
In the historic centre of Palma de Mallorca lies Miramar, one of the most exclusive residences of the Vestige Collection.

The 18th-century mansion stands next to the Gothic cathedral La Seu and offers around 1,700 square metres of space for families or groups of friends.
Despite its location in the vibrant heart of the city, Miramar feels like a private retreat – with generous living spaces, an indoor pool and a home cinema. Here, history and contemporary comfort merge into a refined urban sanctuary.
Son Veri – Mallorca between mountains and sea
Only twenty minutes from Palma, yet in an entirely different world, lies Son Veri.

This 19th-century country house sits secluded in the Tramuntana mountains and offers breathtaking views across the valley, the bay and a former Carthusian monastery.
Traces of the estate’s agricultural past remain visible throughout the house. A historic olive press in the living room recalls a time when olives, grains and almonds were cultivated here. Today, Son Veri has become a retreat for guests seeking tranquillity, nature and a slower rhythm of life.
Namibia – A new chapter– Ein neues Kapitel
The journey of the Vestige Collection now extends beyond Europe.

In Namibia, four new lodges are currently being developed in extraordinary locations:
- near prehistoric dunes
- at the country’s highest mountain
- within the wilderness of the Ovambo region
- sowie im and in the remote Xaudum National ParkNationalpark Xaudum
Each lodge reflects the powerful character of its landscape while continuing the Vestige philosophy: respectfully connecting architecture, nature and local culture.
Mindful hospitality
Today, the Vestige Collection encompasses thousands of hectares of land and numerous historic buildings.
What unites all projects is a sensitive approach to the history of each place. Restoration, design and landscape architecture always evolve in dialogue with the surrounding environment – allowing architectural “vestiges” to become vibrant destinations where past and present coexist.
An approach that proves one thing: true luxury can be quiet.
