Two historic fincas, one quiet retreat in Menorca.

Set in the green north of Menorca, within an expansive private estate of around 800 hectares, Son Ermita and Binidufà are two historic fincas dating back to the 18th century. Connected by landscape and heritage, yet distinct in character, Son Ermita sits elevated with far-reaching views towards the sea, while Binidufà rests quietly in the valley below. Together, they form a discreet retreat far removed from the island’s busier routes.

Concept

Part of the Vestige Collection, Son Ermita & Binidufà follow a philosophy of quiet, nature-led luxury. Rather than spectacle, the focus lies on authenticity, space and time. The two houses function as one ensemble, offering guests the freedom to move between different moods and perspectives.

Architecture & Design

The restoration honours the original fabric of the fincas. Solid stone walls, exposed wooden beams and historic structures have been carefully preserved and complemented with contemporary comfort. Interiors are defined by warm earth tones, handcrafted furniture and selected antiques, creating an atmosphere that feels understated, timeless and deeply rooted in Menorca’s landscape.

Rooms & Suites

Around 22 rooms and suites are spread across both estates. Each is individually laid out, many featuring terraces or direct garden access. Categories range from classic rooms to generous suites and a private villa. Views open onto olive groves, forests or rolling coastal hills, always accompanied by a sense of calm and privacy.

Best Room

Grand Suite with Terrace (Son Ermita)
The Grand Suites at Son Ermita combine historic architecture with a profound sense of calm. Generous proportions, high ceilings and abundant natural light are complemented by a private terrace overlooking the rolling landscape, with views reaching towards the sea. An ideal choice for guests seeking space, privacy and the feeling of a secluded retreat within nature.

Cuisine

The culinary offering reflects the dual nature of the estate. At Son Ermita, the focus is on Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on fish, seafood and seasonal local produce. At Binidufà, the kitchen takes a more plant-forward, creative and internationally inspired approach. Both share a commitment to honest flavours, island-sourced ingredients and a clear, restrained culinary identity.

Experience & Pace

Life here follows the rhythm of nature. Walks across the estate, yoga sessions, e-bike tours or hikes along the Camí de Cavalls reveal Menorca at its most quiet and unspoilt. Pools, spa treatments and open-air spaces invite guests to slow down deliberately, without schedule or expectation.

Atmosphere

Son Ermita & Binidufà are not a conventional resort, but a place of retreat. Designed for travellers who wish to understand Menorca rather than consume it, and who recognise silence, landscape and heritage as the ultimate form of luxury.

A hotel like an exhibition: where art meets history

Tucked away in Stufels, the oldest quarter of Brixen, the Arthotel Lasserhaus – is a place where contemporary art, heritage, and hospitality converge in perfect harmony. Originally a 15th-century patrician residence, the building has been sensitively restored by the Milan-based architectural firm Vudafieri Saverino & Partners and reimagined as a refined 4-star superior art hotel.

Historic features such as vaulted ceilings, original frescoes, and the inner courtyard have been preserved and paired with modern architecture, creating a fluid dialogue between past and present that defines the soul of the house.

The Rooms

The Lasserhaus offers 10 individually curated accommodations, including 6 double rooms, 3 suites, and 1 single room. Each space tells its own story, with fine materials, soft tones, design classics, and contemporary artworks setting the tone for a refined yet intimate atmosphere. Many rooms open to views over the Isarco river toward Brixen’s old town skyline – with its towers, rooftops, and cathedral dome.

Art & Curatorship

Art is the beating heart of the Lasserhaus. Conceived from the outset as a living art space, the hotel brings together contemporary installations and the historical Faller Family Collection, which includes over 100 works spanning from the 17th to the 20th century. Artistic direction is led by Stefanie Prieth (Contemporary Art) and Rose Bourdon (Classical Collection).

Highlights include:

The art concept is fluid and evolving – with readings, exhibitions, concerts, and an artist-in-residence program forming part of the house’s cultural DNA. Many of these events are presented under the Lasser Crossing format.

Culinary & Atmosphere

Guests of the Lasserhaus enjoy an exclusive breakfast at the Viertel Bar in the nearby partner hotel, Boutique Hotel Badhaus – just a short walk away and equally dedicated to design, quality, and contemporary hospitality.

Back at the Lasserhaus, the breakfast lounge serves as the hotel’s social heart – a space to gather, browse, and linger. Guests are welcome to enjoy coffee and tea at any time, complimentary and freely available. In the afternoon, the lounge transforms into a relaxed salon offering a rotating sweet buffet – a treat for the palate and the perfect excuse to pause.

A small library with curated art and architecture books invites quiet exploration, while the wine cellar will soon open its doors for tastings and intimate cultural events – adding another layer to the house’s rich artistic atmosphere.

The Surroundings

The historic heart of Brixen is just a short walk away, while Stufels, with its winding lanes, footbridges, and river views, is one of the city’s most charming and authentic corners. Whether you’re drawn to art, nature, or food culture – Lasserhaus is a perfect starting point for stylish discoveries in and around Brixen.

Just a short walk away are attractions like Naschmarkt and the MuseumsQuartier, and nearby metro stations provide quick connections to all parts of the city.

Style, Design, and Atmosphere

Hotel MOTTO enchants with its distinctive blend of Parisian Art Deco chic and Viennese elegance. The vision of renowned Viennese restaurateur Bernd Schlacher, who owns the hotel, is reflected in every detail. The interior combines modern elements with nostalgic flair—from artfully decorated ceilings and velvet fabrics to delicate Jugendstil details. The design is playful yet sophisticated, creating a relaxed yet luxurious atmosphere.

BEST ROOM

The rooms and suites at Hotel MOTTO combine hand-selected furnishings, high-quality fabrics, and warm colors to create a sense of comfort and style. The highlight is the Suite Junior, which boasts ample space, a freestanding bathtub, and breathtaking views over Vienna. It’s a perfect blend of comfort and elegance, giving guests a genuine feeling of home.

Cuisine: A Journey for the Senses

The in-house restaurant “CHEZ BERNARD” is a culinary gem and a gathering place for food lovers. Here, French bistro cuisine meets Austrian classics—with a modern twist. The hotel’s own bakery, which creates fresh bread and pastries daily, is particularly noteworthy. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, all ingredients are regional, seasonal, and prepared with meticulous attention to detail. The rooftop terrace is a must-visit, offering a glass of wine and stunning views of the Vienna skyline.

Special Features

Along with its bakery, Hotel Motto offers an exceptional fitness and wellness experience in a private, urban setting. Regular events and pop-ups make the hotel a lively hub for both locals and guests alike.

The hotel’s close connection to Vienna’s cultural scene is also evident in collaborations with theaters and museums.

Hotel Motto is a perfect blend of urban lifestyle, timeless elegance, and warm hospitality. Bernd Schlacher has created a retreat that captivates travelers and pays homage to Vienna and Paris—two cities celebrated for their style and appreciation for the finer things in life.

The new Seegut Zeppelin, which opened its doors on 6 May 2024, is located in the middle of an old landscaped park directly on Lake Constance. The hotel buildings clad in glazed spruce wood around the Villa Gminder in Friedrichshafen-Fischbach are just 50 metres from the shore. The modern solitary buildings blend discreetly into the protected park. Inside, the surrounding nature is impressively restaged through wall-high windows. The furnishings are based on natural materials and high-quality design; the cuisine is based on an innovative concept with a vegetarian focus. The name of the hotel is Seegut Zeppelin.

The Seegut Zeppelin is one of the few hotels on Lake Constance that is located directly on the shore and has its own access to the lake. Generosity, space and outstanding interior design characterise the four modern stand-alone buildings that surround the listed Villa Gminder.

The 62 rooms, reception, bar and wellness area are located in the new buildings. The function rooms are spread across the new buildings and the villa. Inside, views of the lake, the park and the fruit and herb garden open up again and again. Brand-name furniture from Freifrau and the Stuhlmanufaktur horgenglarus make the hearts of design lovers beat faster. Home textiles made of linen and cotton create a link to the textile manufacturer Gustav Gminder, who once had the villa built in the centre of the complex.

Rooms

All rooms at the Seegut have a balcony or terrace. We particularly recommend the forest rooms in Haus August or the park rooms in Haus Helene, as they offer a marvellous view of the lake. The rooms are furnished with great attention to detail. Silver fir panelling, oak floorboards and lime plaster create an atmosphere that reflects a refuge in the middle of nature. Here I can come to rest and enjoy the time. Mindfulness is very important here, especially in our fast-moving times.

Culinary

Villa Gminder is home to the Pinus restaurant, named after an impressive black pine tree between the restaurant and the lakeshore. The cuisine at Pinus has a clear vegetarian focus and places the sharing principle at the centre, with different components served at the same time.

Villa Gminder with Restaurant Pinus

History

The wealthy textile manufacturer Gustav Gminder from Reutlingen had secured a marvellous lakeside property for his family’s “summer retreat” on the shores of Lake Constance in Fischbach. The well-known architect of the time, Theodor Fischer, was commissioned to design a villa. In 1929, the Evangelical Deaconess Institution bought the property and operated it intermittently as a hospital, convalescent home and later as a holiday and conference centre. In 2014, the Deaconess House found new owners: Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH acquired the property and operated it as a holiday and conference centre through a subsidiary. However, due to the outdated building fabric and the existing room structure, the guest house could not be run profitably. A new design was therefore considered, with which the Plösser architects’ office from Friedrichshafen was commissioned. At the beginning of 2016, the Fennel family won the tender to run the guesthouse with their sustainability-focussed concept.

The hotel’s special location in the middle of a protected landscape park means even greater responsibility towards the surrounding nature. Care is taken to ensure that the shore area is only moderately frequented all year round and, in particular, that the peace and quiet of the wild birds wintering in Fischbach Bay is not disturbed. The eastern part of the park is separated by a hedge of wild shrubs and is reserved exclusively for flora and fauna.

Exquisite location and green oasis

The Küglerhof rises majestically at an altitude of 700 metres in Dorf Tirol and offers a breathtaking view over the entire Etschtal valley. Set on 4 hectares of land, away from noise and stress, it offers an oasis of peace and relaxation. Numerous hiking trails invite you to stroll through the picturesque landscape directly from the hotel, while the cable car to the Muthöfe is just a short walk away. Guests can also use the village bus to get to the centre of Dorf Tirol or even as far as Meran. Surrounded by apple orchards and meadows, the Küglerhof offers absolute peace and tranquillity. The garden with pond invites you to linger, while newly added amenities such as the open barbecue further enhance the experience of nature.

Stylish design and elegance

The Küglerhof presents a natural beauty and a new concept of “barefoot luxury” without “bling-bling”. The rooms are designed close to nature and furnished to a high standard, with every detail selected with love and care. A pleasant ambience with natural materials and soft colours creates an atmosphere of inner contemplation for body and soul. Under the direction of owner Karoline Dilitz, the Küglerhof was designed in a lodge style and harmoniously furnished. Every detail has her personal touch, from the unusual furniture to the matching details that characterise the ambience of the hotel. The light-flooded restaurant inspires with surprising, atmospheric details and uses fine, natural materials and stylish furnishings that follow the principles of feng shui.

Best Room Suite XL

Particularly noteworthy is the new Suite XL with a generous 60m², which offers a separate dressing room, a living room and a spacious sleeping area with a breathtaking view directly from the bed. From this exclusive suite, you can quickly and comfortably reach the pool via the terrace to take your first dip in the morning and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.

Culinary delights and treats for the palate

The Küglerhofs kitchen is the pride of the house, under the direction of Patrick Kreidl and his team, who focus on uncompromising product quality and local ties. The excellent slow-food cuisine offers a culinary journey for gourmets and connoisseurs. With attention to detail, dishes are served at both breakfast and dinner that will tantalise the senses. The Chef’s Choice menu is available for those who are undecided. In the afternoon, tapas & drinks can be enjoyed by the pool, while an extensive selection of wines rounds off the culinary experience.

Relaxation and recreation in the spa area

The spa area at the Küglerhofs is a place of deep relaxation and recuperation, designed with wood, natural stone and glass. Four saunas, including a Finnish sauna, a steam bath, an organic hay sauna and a herbal sauna, as well as a Kneipp trail and a whirlpool, which is flooded anew for each guest, offer a wide range of opportunities for regeneration. Massages can be booked daily. A self-service pool bar, a large garden with orchard and a panoramic relaxation room with sun terrace create a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere for body and soul. An in-house library is also available for guests to browse through in peace and quiet.

Artful and idyllic amidst a UNESCO World Heritage site

From a craftsman’s house to one of the most beautiful art hotels in Europe, the story of Schlossberghotel reads like a captivating tale. In 1596, it was appointed as the Imperial and Royal Court Carpentry in Graz, a tradition of craftsmanship that has endured for centuries.

A significant turning point came in the 1960s when the historic building transformed into the renowned “Gasthof Bierstrom,” marking the beginning of a new chapter. Later, from 1980 to 1982, the house underwent extensive renovation and modernization, reopening as Schlossberghotel. In the following years, the hotel expanded to include two adjacent buildings. Another milestone occurred in 2011 with the construction of new apartments in the Domenig-Spitz.

Art appreciation at the highest level

From travel pleasure to the enjoyment of art at the highest level and boundless individuality, Schlossberghotel seamlessly combines charm and sophistication. In its 49 rooms, 4 suites, and 8 modern apartments, original artworks and precious antiques merge to create a unique living experience that invites guests to return time and again.

Feeling at home is paramount, especially in the apartments of Schlossberghotel where contemporary art and luxurious functionality promise maximum living quality even for extended stays. Located in the opposite Domenig-Spitz, designed by the outstanding architect Günther Domenig, the fully equipped apartments captivate with spacious and modern living areas.

The lobby and bar area form the heart of Schlossberghotel inviting guests to engage in intense discussions, stimulating conversations, and lighthearted banter. A refreshing glass of wine, a steaming cup of coffee, or a cozy cognac elevate spirits and facilitate effortless conversation.

Stay relaxed.

The rooftop terrace offers sweeping views over the UNESCO World Heritage-listed skyline of Graz, while the winter garden or the cozy breakfast room serve a diverse breakfast spread. For relaxation and rejuvenation, guests have access to the leisure area with sauna, infrared cabin, and fitness room 24 hours a day. During the warmer months, the outdoor pool on the rooftop terrace invites guests to enjoy a refreshing swim. At Schlossberghotel an unforgettable stay is guaranteed, with the guest at the center of attention.

ECO-living: a new way of vacation

Embedded in the Tauferer Ahrntal in South Tyrol, an Eco Aparthotel, was created that combines future and tradition. Completely energy self-sufficient, CO2-neutral and innovative regional. In the midst of nature and in the rhythm of the seasons. The name reveals the essence: OLM is South Tyrolean and means as much as the Alm. Organic, self-sufficient and authentic – everything is in circulation. Just like the architecture of the building itself. In OLM you become part of it. “A place to simply be. Yourself.” OLM opens its doors in December 2023.

Energy self-sufficient

True sustainability is not seen by the owner Christian Lechner, who comes from the valley, as an advertising phrase, but as a mission for the future. As the first vacation resort in South Tyrol and probably in the Alpine region, the 4-star superior aparthotel is completely self-sufficient in energy. A combination of hydropower, photovoltaics and, last but not least, geothermal energy, which is unique on this scale, ensures an energy surplus.

ECO Apart Suiten

The total of 33 accommodation units are embedded in warm solid wood and convey the cozy atmosphere of a modern alpine pasture. Large glass fronts open the view from the bed into the picturesque landscape of the Ahrntal. 80 percent of the apart-suites have a kitchenette as well as their own sauna and free-standing bathtub, both once again with an impressive natural panorama.

In some of the suites, separable work areas are available, in order to be able to transfer the topic home office also for some time in the South Tyrolean mountain world. In the ApartSuiten aligned directly to the Almwiesen also guests with dogs find their perfect vacation domicile.

The 60-meter diameter inner circle of the Aparthotel is designed as a wild relaxation garden with a natural bathing pond, in keeping with the eco-idea. Thanks to the hotel’s own electricity, guests can also bathe with a clear conscience in the 25-meter-long sports pool, which is heated all year round and extends outdoors from the indoor sauna and relaxation rooms.

Innovative culinary concept

Offering guests casual vacation freedom is “the” guiding principle at OLM. This is also reflected in the gastronomy, which is completely detached from the traditional half board. And with the highest quality! OLM chef Berni Aichner, for many years sous-chef at Norbert Niederkofler, has developed together with star chef Theodor Falser as a consultant a very special, revolutionary “pleasure after pleasure” concept.

Guests book rooms with breakfast consisting of handpicked local products with high organic content, homemade or from regional manufactures. In addition, they are free to choose: Depending on their mood, either enjoy individual “dine-around” in the region or use the kitchenette of their ApartSuite for self-catering, with a specialty store in the house offering corresponding shopping opportunities.

Or, in the evening, they can taste their way through the APÉRO Dinner offered five times a week in the PRENN° (culinary area in the OLM) with South Tyrolean-Mediterranean specialties in the finest canapés from the show kitchen. In addition, Berni Aichner invites twice a week to the exclusive OLM Dinner (theme evening) with creative tasting menu.

Best of South Tyrol with a fine pinch of Italy, France, Germany and Austria is the motto of the wine list, which is of course also excellently stocked according to the claim of the kitchen.

Destination Tip

As a quiet side valley of the Pustertal, flanked by the pretty towns of Bruneck and Sand in Taufers, the easily accessible Tauferer Ahrntal is a bit out of the way. And that is a good thing! More than 80 three-thousand-meter peaks provide an impressive mountain backdrop and the best conditions for hiking and (e)biking. The flat valley floor also offers plenty of opportunities to take a more leisurely approach to the expansive nature experience.

The region is a paradise for winter hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing – all this snow-sure in the flatter valley or in airy heights with a unique panorama. Exciting experiences are offered by the cross-country ski centers Rein, Antholz and Gsiesertal, fun is had sledding, from meadow slopes to kilometer-long downhill runs, whose high-altitude starts can be reached partly on foot, partly by cable car. In winter, the “Skiworld Ahrntal” at Speikboden and Klausberg offers around 70 kilometers of slopes, plus smaller family areas and the Kronplatz near Bruneck, which is not far away.

The philosophy

The WILD is an expression of the philosophy and eclectic taste of the Varveris family, true lovers of Mykonos island.

“We wanted to preserve the emotions the island exhales to incorporate the experience
of “our” Mykonos in a place – wild at heart, mesmerising, unspoilt, nonchalant and, at the same time, filled with culture, excitement and cosmopolitan flair. The energy of this tiny Cycladic island that artists and bon vivants, free spirits and insightful travellers, have fallen in love with for decades,”

Philip Varveris

He and his older brother Alex are the creative forces behind the WILD curators of the hotel’s concept and design. “Along with a team of remarkable people,” they add.
