Mindful Traveller

Mia Alpina: Life Is Anything but Quiet

At Mia Alpina in Fügen, a family holiday rarely ends in the same place where it began that morning. While the children test their skills on the ninja course or plan their next trip down the waterslide, a sky pool overlooking the Zillertal mountains awaits adults upstairs in the penthouse spa.

Family Holidays with a Style of Their Own

Family hotels have to be many things at once. At Mia Alpina, this has developed into a style of its own: contemporary Alpine design, high-quality materials and an offering that takes children seriously without reducing adults to supporting roles in their own holidays. Wood and warm colours give the rooms and suites a homely feel, while the design remains clean and understated. The hotel does not feel like an oversized play centre with bedrooms attached, even though younger guests have plenty of opportunities to let off steam.

Between Ninja Courses and the Penthouse Spa

Area 500 lives up to its name: this adventure space is made for climbing, bouldering and balancing, with soft-play areas and a ninja warrior course too. At the Alpini Kidsclub, children from babies to teenagers are cared for with age-appropriate activities. Meanwhile, adults have time for a massage, a few lengths in the pool or simply a coffee that is still hot when they drink it. It sounds like a small thing. On a family holiday, it is an achievement.

When it comes to water, Mia Alpina has two different personalities. Woody’s Activity Pool, with its indoor and outdoor areas and Trio Slide waterslide, is the place for movement and a little controlled chaos. On the fifth floor is the penthouse spa, reserved for guests aged 16 and over. Here, things are quieter, with views stretching across Fügen to the mountains. Having room for both under one roof is more than just a practical solution. It allows families to travel together without having to spend every hour together.

The Zillertal Awaits Outside

The Spieljoch cable car is just a few minutes’ walk away, while hiking trails and mountain biking routes lead out into the mountains. In winter, it is time to hit the slopes. Being outdoors is as much a part of the holiday here as coming back inside. After a day in the mountains, dinner tastes different, and the children would rather talk about their adventures than ask what is planned for tomorrow.

Living Consciously, Experiencing Together

Mia Alpina holds the Austrian Ecolabel and is committed to using resources responsibly. Local materials, regional suppliers and renewable energy are all part of this approach. In a landscape where spending time outdoors comes so naturally, this is more than an added selling point. After all, the landscape is the reason people come here. At Mia Alpina, aliveness means experiencing life together: in that first glimpse of the mountains in the morning, in the exuberance of the pool, on a hiking trail and later around the table, when everyone shares stories from their day. Stylish does not have to mean stiff, and being mindful does not mean planning every moment.

The most beautiful moments often happen between two activities. And sometimes, family happiness simply means that everyone has experienced something they cannot wait to tell the others about.
